Peace-building in the 21st century
Technology influences our life continuously. How can we harness it to build sustainable societies of today and tomorrow? How can tech bring people together and increase understanding, cooperation, and collaboration?
We are a network of individuals and organizations who are interested in building peaceful and sustainable societies for the future. For all of us involved, it is not just about vision, but about taking concrete action to achieve sustainable and profitable peace.
We are building World Peace because peace is the most profitable state of a society.
To make this happen we have a community of Peace Entrepreneurs and world's leading organizations and professionals from fields of peace-building, technology, politics and peace research. Together with this community we organize events, podcasts and workshops where we spread the knowledge on peace-building in 21st century. We concentrate especially on the role of technology in peace-building and what possibilities and threats it brings along. How can peacetech prevent violent conflicts and increase financial, social and environmental sustainability of societies?
Community is the number one priority for us. We want to be in this together because no-one can build better societies by themselves, and it should be the common interest of the whole society. So everyone is more than welcome to join!
You can reach us by email at community@peacetechforum.org
We gather experts around the world from fields of peace-building, technology, politics and peace research to spread their knowledge to the community. All the events will also be live-streamed and recordings shared after the event.
Our community organizations are running incubators to help Peace Entrepreneurs find the right parners, scale and find suitable funding.
We also record and share podcasts because it is extremely hard to get all the busy professionals in one place for the events. Grow your knowledge on how tech can either hinder or enhance peace-building!
How can we harness technology to build sustainable societies of today and tomorrow? How can tech bring people together and increase understanding, cooperation and collaboration?
How does media and social media affect our behavior? Could behavior be programmed through social media, for example through fake news? How do new technologies like AI or VR affect our interaction and cooperation between people?
Let's discuss the "do no harm" principle and the effects of advanced technology on the stability of growing markets.
Using behavior design techniques and persuasive technology (like the kind that keeps you scrolling through your social feed), Margarita Quihuis and her team at BJ Fogg's Stanford Peace Innovation Lab are working out how to incentivize peace over destruction, and collaboration over conflict through "positive peace."
Nathaniel Raymond and his group of researchers at Harvard’s Humanitarian Initiative are doing exactly that.
Mark Nelson, co-director of Stanford's Peace Innovation Lab, has created a quantifiable metric that focuses on peace as something beyond just the absence of violence.
Former relief-worker, investment banker, and social entrepreneur, Mark Nelson founded and co-directs the Stanford Peace Innovation Lab, where he researches mass collaboration and mass interpersonal persuasion.
